Toys in Love Reviews the Jellyfish Silicone Dildo by Whipspider

It is with great sadness that we note the Whipspider company is no longer in operation. If they ever resurface, SheVibe will be here with open arms. In the meantime this review will link to our Fantasy Dildo category for several other wonderful options.

The Jellyfish dildo from Whipspider Rubberworks is definitely a first in this house, on so many levels I hardly know where to begin! The artistry that goes into these watery creatures alone blows most competition out of the uhm… water, so to speak. And no! They really don’t’ look like any other sex toys out there, you can believe that!

The always grand SheVibe kindly dropped this one in our lap with a “Here, go for a swim” note attached. – So we did, and we have quite a bit of flooding in our bedroom to show for it… Don’t get me wrong; I love it when my OH squirts and gushes and all, but seriously!

Anyway; out of the box – or plain plastic zip lock bag with a printed certificate with a little bit of company information, as is the case with the Jellyfish – you’ll immediately notice the intricate details and beautiful colors. A deep turquoise, soft lavender, and semi translucent white – which Whipspider Rubberworks chose to call pink for some reason – makes this one show every fine detail, as if it was molded straight from the real sea creature itself.

Pick it up and the perfectly rounded edges, grooves and bumps will entice and enthrall you to no end. It really is a stunning piece of work!  From all the perfectly sculpted tentacles, to the sea base with tiny bubbles and all. It’s just gorgeous. Then the softness as you squeeze it.  Silicone can actually be quite a… finicky beast to handle. Getting the feel and texture right in a sex toy is not just a ‘pour and hope for the best’ kind’a thing.  Trial and error is painstakingly slow work, and to get it just right…well…  But that they did. It’s soft and squishy, as we know it from VixSkin from Vixen or O2 from Tantus, yet still firm in the core.  Enough for it to be great for good thrusting.

At about seven inches in length with six of them being insertable, and about 1½ inches of width and looking past the actual look of the Jellyfish, it’s actually not too far off being anatomically correct. And it’s definitely soft and pleasant enough for most users. I’ll actually go so far as to say; If you like the real deal, then this tentacled wonder is just the wonder you need!

For anal use I’d say it’s in the intermediate to slightly advanced users range. I wouldn’t recommend it for first time seekers, but if you have been enjoying, experimenting or are on a steady diet of great anal enlightenment… well then. Trust me; all that texture along the shaft… Oh my… And it’s definitely just as much a P-spot as a G-Spot ally. The broad base is also a perfect match for anal use and the base fits nice and snug in most harnesses as well, so if the ladies out there like to go all manly like on your ass, look no further!

More often than not, my OH will be rather uhm… horny, when that time of month comes along. And for some reason, she prefers toys with a bit more bang for your bucks when we then play. And the Jellyfish is excellent for that… In the time we’ve had the Jellyfish it’s been an absolute Godsend. And holy bugger does it make her squirt! I have a feeling it’s going to be the case for a long time to come…

A bit of a tip though… Take it from one who knows *cough*, if you plan on using the Jellyfish for anal play, apply water-based lubricant to him as if the dispenser was broken! And never use silicone-based lubricant on silicone toys yadiyadi. Seriously, you’ll kill him! A good water-based lube is the way to go.

Like I always preach say; all sex play gets better with lube, lots of lube! (I should really get sponsored by a lube company…)

There’s even a cavity in the bottom designed to accommodate a micro, mini or bullet vibrator. SheVibe will actually give you a great deal on a Mini Pearl if you buy it with your Jellyfish. But if you have any good mini vibrator on hand, you should be fine. Both my OH and me actually preferred the Jellyfish as a straight up dildo, after some testing back and forth. We have enough toys that go buzz, but with this one, you truly don’t need it… But hey, that’s just us, a whole lot of people loves the buzz, and Whipspider must have heard them.

The Jellyfish is made from high-grade silicone, which is a 100% non-porous material (a must for anal play!). And as with all 100% silicone you can give it a good wash under hot water with some anti-bacterial soap and finish off with a good sex toy cleaner and the toys is good as new. – Or you can boil it or throw it in the dishwasher – top rack – if you’d prefer that instead…

This toy is completely unlike anything else we own, have owned, tried or probably will try for quite some time – in terms of the texture and design. For that alone this one is a keeper!  But that’s not the whole truth. This is a great toy simply because it delivers great, great fun and excitement in a business where so many toys are just plain old flat and boring. Whipspider Rubberworks should be commended for that. I’m definitely grateful SheVibe shipped the Jellyfish our way, and I have a feeling we’ll be swimming in the bedroom for quite some time to come…
