Texture and material construction: Tranquility, one of Sliquid’s Balance Massage Oils, is a clear, lightly scented blend of various oils and organic botanical extracts. The oil itself is very light and thin. Because of this, it spreads very easily and doesn’t leave your skin feeling coated. It absorbs into the skin leaving it feeling silky smooth, while also leaving the surface slick enough for hands, or massage stones, to glide across. There are two downsides to this oil's consistency. The first is that its thinness means it runs very quickly. If you put too much in your hand it’s pretty easy to end up with oil all over the place. However, you don’t really need to use much so it shouldn’t be a huge problem. The second downside is that because the skin seems to soak up the oil so readily, depending on the length of your massage, you may have to reapply more frequently. Though again, because it’s so thin, a little goes a long way so your bottle should still last a while. This oil has both a scent and a taste. The scent is one of the main focal points of this oil. The scent is described as a blend of coconut, lime, and verbena. Now, I’ve never smelled verbena before but the coconut and lime are very easily distinguished. The lime is definitely the high note in this combination of scents. It’s sharp and crisp, yet not overwhelming. It’s light enough that it comes across simply as refreshing. I think any tartness the lime scent might have had was undercut by the coconut. The richness of the coconut just kind of smooths it out. And the fact that the scent combination is so light makes it soothing instead of a smell that assaults your senses. As for the taste, it taste almost exactly like it smells; mostly like lime. However there is also a slight bitterness, which I’m guessing is the verbena. It’s not a taste that I would recommend. However, if one wanted to include kissing or light licking in their massage activities I don’t think it would be a problem. Review Details: I absolutely love this massage oil. It leaves your skin feeling supple, soft, and so incredibly smooth. Some massage oils are so heavy that you feel like you need to take a bath after you use them. This however blends into the skin so well that there is no feeling of being coated in oil. Your skin just feels moisturized. I feel like this oil maintains the perfect balance. It absorbs enough to leave your skin feeling rejuvenated but slick enough that your hands to glide right over the skin. Massaging with this oil just feels luscious. When I massage my skin I actually use warm massage stones to get deeper into the tissue and the stones just glide right across the surface. And let me tell you, warm massage stones gliding across soft oil just feels heavenly. This oil makes massages utterly comfortable and that’s before I even mention the scent. I have tried all of the oils in the Sliquid Balance Oil line and this is hands down my favorite. All of the oils in the line are made with the same base ingredients so they all pretty much have the same feel. However, this smell really gives it something extra. The combination of coconut and lime is crisp and clean but with a smooth undertone. And, it’s so light that you don’t feel overwhelmed by it. I’ve used massage oils before that were so strong that even though the smell was pleasant it ultimately made me nauseous because it was just too much. I was actually worried when I first bought this because when companies use scents like coconut and lime they can end up smelling like a pastry. Thankfully though, the way the scents blend together is more reminiscent of a spa than anything else. This scent just kind of wafts to you. You’ll turn your head toward your oiled shoulder and suddenly your awareness of the scent is engaged. On the one hand I’d call it invigorating because of the sharp citrus scent. But on the other I’d have to describe it as relaxing because of the smoothness of the coconut. It really does seem like those would be opposite concepts but they work together very well. Honestly, the only real complaints I can make about this oil are that the thinness makes it a bit runny (I overestimated how much I needed and it ran and dripped everywhere) and does make it necessary to reapply more often than some thicker oils do. But really, those concerns are minor. Overall the benefits of this oil far outweigh the cost. This one will definitely be a constant in my toy box. I highly recommend.
