A Simple Item, An Extraordinary Experience
Texture and material construction: The Shunga massage candles are made from 100% natural oils, which have much lower and safer burning points than scented commercial candles. This means that the wax never gets so hot that it is no longer safe for contact with skin. Although I do not consider myself to have sensitive skin, I have nevertheless been relieved to find that my body simply adores Shunga’s candle formula. I have never experienced any sort of allergic reaction or irritation. In fact, I actually feel moisturized after using this candle. The oils absorb into my skin, leaving me feeling soft and smooth— never sticky or greasy. The only scent that I have tried so far is Vanilla, but I am very satisfied. It’s a heavenly blend that reminds me of warm cookies straight out of the oven. Review Details: This candle has a couple of different sensations, depending on how well you follow Shunga’s instructions, which clearly say to extinguish the flame before use. When used in this way, the oil is just a bit warmer than body temperature and very relaxing. However, the candle itself cooled and hardened a bit too quickly for a very lengthy massage session. Curious about the temperature of a still-burning massage candle, my partner and I ventured into the land of experimentation. When left burning and dripped directly onto one’s skin, the sensation is much more similar to wax play. There is an initial intensity and the occasional reddening of the skin for a short while, but we have not experienced any lasting irritation. (We have, however, melted one side of the little plastic spoon that Shunga provided with the candle.) Whether warm or hot, the oil from Shunga’s massage candle is simply fantastic. With just a few drops, it easily glides across the skin without being either too slippery or too tacky. Honestly, it’s a purchase that I would suggest for anyone wanting to increase intimacy through touch. And although it may seem a bit pricey for a candle, it’s really a bargain for how many hours of pleasure you’ll get out of it.
