"I favor the Don’s rumbly, deep bass vibrations to be applied externally. Opting to rub the pin against my perpetually power-hungry clit. The vigorous vibrations easily pass through the flesh of my vulva, penetrating the hidden or buried portions of my clitoris.

The Don is can simultaneously provide me with the strength and rumble that wands offer, but the pin is the key to why I prefer the Don over my well-loved Doxy Number 3. The finger-shaped pin concentrates those flesh-quaking, bass vibrations and I can quickly direct them exactly where I want them. Whereas, the curved-domed heads and larger surface areas of wands diffuse the vibrations and disseminate them over a larger area of my genitals. Which sometimes, unfortunately, leads to numbness.

So with the Doxy Don, I’m getting the best of both worldsThe Doxy Don. I’m ultimately able to harness what is the power of a wand, into my preferred type of stimulation. Which is of the concentrated, pinpoint variety.

The Don has succeeded in replacing the Doxy Number 3 as my bedside, plug-in companion. It has earned a spot as my corded finisher.

The Doxy Don is an excellent choice for those who have an appetite for powerful highly concentrated vibrations that is capable of pummeling the body with deeply penetrating vibrations."

  1. Very, Very Strong star rating

Power Rating: Powerful - Wow! Enough power for anyone and then some!

Noise Rating: Noisy - Emits an obvious buzz.

Texture and material construction: The DON by Doxy is an extremely strong corded vibrator. The bulk of the toy is covered in a black matte silicone. The silicone feels very silky but it also has a bit of a grainy texture. The base of the toy is made of ABS plastic and has a pad on the bottom to keep it stable when sitting on a counter. In shape, the toy is quite bulky. It has a short bulbous head attached to a rectangular handle that you can just wrap your fist around. The whole thing is connected to a mains powered cord which, at 12ft, is longer than most corded vibrators I’ve seen. The controller for the vibrator is situated in the cord (in other words the cord connect to both sides of the controller) about three feet from the main device. It has three buttons that light up blue when turned on. The top button is the universal on/off symbol and the others are plus and minus buttons. The plus sign allows you to increase the vibration speed incrementally and the minus allows you to lower it. This vibrator is extremely thuddy. At its lowest speed it is rumbly but at its highest speed the vibrations are deeper than any I’ve ever felt. Because it is so strong though, the entire toy vibrates which causes your hand to get numb rather quickly. I definitely recommend propping it against something so that you can use it hands free. In regards to cleaning, because it is a corded vibrator, and thus not waterproof, it is a bit harder to clean. However it can be wiped down with a cloth and toy cleaner.

Review Details: The DON is hands down the most rumbly vibrator I own. The vibrations are thuddy, and deep, and simply possess a quality I’ve never encountered before. I really enjoy the sensations that this toy creates but I did fine that, for me, it is more effective anally then clitorally. When I initially purchased this toy I wanted it as a clitoral vibrator. My clitoris really likes rumbly broad vibration so I figured this would be perfect. Unfortunately the DON was rumblier than even my clitoris could take. It shook my clitoris in a way that felt really good but it simply wasn’t enough to get me over the hump to orgasm; at least not in a timely fashion. When I put this toy on my clit the deep vibrations felt amazing but it kept me on the brink of orgasm in a really frustrating way. This toy made me realize that my clitoris does need a bit of buzziness to get me off. I love my Hitachi Magic Wand because although it rumbles it still has a buzzy quality to it. The DON has no buzz. It is all rumble and that leaves me wanting. If I used just the very tip of the bulb I could eventually come but it took a really long time and it was kind of lackluster. I think that if this toy had one or two more upper speeds it would be the perfect clitoral vibrator for me. But alas, it doesn’t. So, if I’m going to use it clitorally it will only be as a warm up and not a finisher.

Now having determined that, I decided to try the DON anally and quickly decided that that would be its main purpose. My goodness, the thuddy nature of the vibrations feels fantastic anally. There is nothing like it. I am a person who loves anal vibration and this just exceeded all of my expectations. When using it I chose to put a condom (un-lubricated since it’s a silicone toy and most pre-lubricated condoms use silicone lube) over the whole toy to make clean up easier. Once the condom was on, I added anal lube and it just slid right in. The size of the bulb I think is perfect. At just over an inch in width it’s a size that doesn’t really require much, if any, warm up. Plus, the bulb is not very long so all the vibration is concentrated right around the anal sphincters where I want it. When I use this toy I prefer it on its highest power setting. I prop the base up against one of my Liberator pillows and it keeps it in place and frees my hands up to play with my clit. I use it almost exclusively in conjunction with my Hitachi Magic Wand because the Don is so strong that it cancels out the vibration of my weaker vibrators. With those two incredibly strong vibrators working my pelvic floor I end up coming really hard. It's great.

The DON has definitely made my exploration of anal play more interesting. Plus, I found that using the DON before I insert larger anal toys is really helpful. The deep vibration relaxes my anal muscles and it makes inserting other toys much more comfortable. It’s actually super practical and I totally didn’t expect that. I really do love my DON and I have no problems recommending it to others.

  2. Thuddy Vibrations star rating

Posted by Purple Elysium (Winnipeg) on Feb 15th 2016

Power Rating: Powerful - Wow! Enough power for anyone and then some!

Noise Rating: Noisy - Emits an obvious buzz.

Texture and material construction: DON is made of a smooth silicone coating over the inner electronics, so while there is some bend at the joints, most of it is fairly hard with a little give to it to stave off the unyielding hardness of most silicone-sheathed vibrators.

It has a strange, organic shape that could lend itself to mimicking many different styles of toys but ultimately remains noncommittal about what it represents. For some reason, this was inspired by the traditional bowling pin, but with a few oddities. The tip flares into a bulb that connects to the main grip, but it also has a small flat section with a protruding nubbin. Who, where, why, and what are not readily apparent. At first glance, it’s not too obvious where things go, but everyone can find their own best way to use it: clitorally, anally, vaginally, and while I’m not familiar with penises’ compatibility with vibrators, this one feels like it would work best. The vibrations in and of themselves are very broad and penetrating, with the bulb focuses them, rather than creating a pinpoint.

Powered through a plug in the wall, it is most certainly not waterproof. The cable is long, almost excessively so for me (12 feet), but this would help if you don’t masturbate near a plug. The controls are about three feet away from the toy, making it a bit of a hassle for solo play, especially if you use a toy in addition to the DON.

However, considering its bulk and power, this is a relatively light toy and it’s much easier to maneuver and hold in the right position. Sometimes, my arm would get tired using bigger wands, but the DON is compact enough that this isn’t an issue. For its size and power, it’s also quieter than I thought it would be. Ranging from a gentle thrum to a higher pitched roar, the noise can be controlled with walls and blankets fairly easily.

Review Details: The DON is absolutely the most natural toy I’ve ever used, and I don’t mean “natural” in the gross ”trying to replicate the flesh of a partner but BETTER” way that marketing campaigns sometimes go. I’m talking about instinctively knowing where and how much and what kind of power, not just to have incredibly satisfying blended orgasms, but to squirt.

I previously thought that there were only two types of vibration, but the DON has introduced me to the third. Buzzy vibes are for people more sensitive to vibrations, people who don’t want much pressure and don’t mind the numbness or shallowness. Rumbly vibes are for those who want depth, pressure, and the trembling rumbles of a fine Italian sports car throughout their flesh and nerves.

Thuddy vibes are the grandparents of rumbly vibes. Thuddy vibes point and laugh at rumbly vibes. If the Tango is a sports car and the Magic Wand is a chainsaw, the DON is a rocket ship blasting into space. Rather than restricting themselves to my crotch, the vibrations rattle down my legs and into my torso, engulfing my pelvic region. From the very first speed, these vibes are slow, thuddy, and travel effortlessly over my vulva and into my G-spot, producing significant leakage within a minute.

Quality vibes are one thing, but they have to be conducted through a good shape and this is where DON and I don’t get along too well at times. My muscle memory tells me to sandwich the little bulb between my right labial lip and my clit, but this hurts in its intensity. I can feel how DON wants to vibrate me, though, and so, I place the tip between my clit and the top of my slit, with the nubbin resting on the edge of my mons.

As someone who doesn’t really like internal vibes, this dinky little probe thing felt weird for anything other than clit stuff. Inside me, it felt like it rattled my small intestine with the un-clandestine force and all the tenderness of a jackhammer. It really was not very pleasant at all and the internal shape didn’t jive with me either, missing any “-spot” in me that could’ve made it special.

Despite it being such a powerfully awesome toy, I really prefer the reliable, comfortable orgasms of my Tango, but the DON definitely has its place. Like, when I’m reading Literotica or watching porn and I just want to be lazy, I clamp the DON on my crotch and wait, or when I want to last longer than my Tango’s battery will. There’s a certain freedom in using a toy that doesn’t rely on batteries or charges.

Also, can we just talk about the marketing on this vibrator? Completely non-gendered, it comes in a plain white windowed box and encourages you to play with it however it feels good to you. That’s a pretty great thing, especially with such a bizarre shape to work with people’s imaginations.

While I can definitely imagine the vibrations being too much or not the right kind for someone, or the shape not being a good mesh with their body, it’s great for me. The vibrations qualify for a new category of awesome, excelling at penetration and rumblings, while the shape disperses them easily enough. I feel that, as a vibe trying to do so much for most bodies, it could’ve had a more pinpoint edge to use, but I immensely enjoy the orgasms it provides.
